FAQs

Cleaning

  • What is pressure cleaning?

  • What is soft washing?

  • How long will it take to complete a clean?

It solely depends on how large the area to be cleaned is, how affected it is, weather and any other challenges that arise on the day.

  • Can pressure cleaning damage surfaces?

If pointed too closely to surfaces or a chemical concentration is too strong, these can all cause damage. Oxidisation of roof paints, wall paints, flaking or peeling can all cause damage to immediate areas. Clients are informed of problem areas prior to the job or if they arise on the day. These areas are avoided to limit further damage.

  • What process would be used at my home or business?

It all depends on how heavily affected the surfaces are with organic matter. It will determine which process or processes that will be used on the day.

  • Is the cleaning process noisy?

Yes it is. The surface cleaning process on a roof is quite a loud process. The pressure cleaner unit itself is run by a 23HP GX630 Honda V-Twin engine.

  • What chemicals do you use?

A diluted formula of Sodium Hypochlorite which is the active ingredient mixed with a house wash concentrate that enables the surface to be cleaned effectively. Downpipes are diverted and water tanks are blocked during the cleaning process.

  • What other chemicals do you use?

Degreasers, House wash concentrates, acids. All of which are handled with care to avoid damage surfaces and the environment.

Preparation

  • Do I need to be home when you come for a site inspection?

We can do a site inspection for quoting as long as we have access to it. As long as you are happy to have us there without being home.

  • Do I need to be home on the day of a clean?

We offer full flexibility, if you have plans on the day of a clean it’s no issue, we know what needs to be cleaned and it will allow you to be where you need to be.

  • Do you need site access for your vehicle?

Our dual axle trailer is quite large and we position it in an ideal location to carry out cleans. If it blocks any access than we will inform you on the day prior to the clean.

  • I have animals what should I do?

Although we do love cats, dogs and birds, it would be best suited to keep your pets indoors during a clean to limit frightening them.

  • What is Oxidisation?

Oxidation occurs in paints, leaving a chalky substance as a residue. When a surface oxidizes, it requires specially formulated chemicals along with brushing to completely remove the residue and restore its original colour. Variations in the colour may appear due to the condition. This method is a restoration whereas repainting it would be the solution for this.

  • Will my grass or plants die?

It would take a minor spill to kill your grass or plants, any areas of concern are rinsed down with water prior to the application to avoid this from occurring.

  • Do you need water or power?

Access to water on the site to be cleaned is a must to be able to clean, low water pressure is also a problem. If any of these are an issue than please let the team know on the day of inspection. No power is required for any cleaning.

  • Can you carry out a clean if it’s raining?

The weather is very unpredictable, Light rain isn’t too much of a worry to work in, if a heavy downpour or lightning occurs whilst cleaning your home and it becomes a safety concern, We will immediately stop work and notify you to organise another day to finish the job.

  • Can I tackle a clean myself?

Although it looks easy, it can be a dangerous task with slippery surfaces, its best to leave the job at hand to trained individuals. Rapid Jet Pressure Cleaning have the right equipment to carry out a clean as quickly and efficiently as possible.

  • Is there anything else I need to know?
